Playing Catch Up

Although we all had an absolutely fabulous time on our little mini-vacation visiting with family in Oklahoma, I am having an extremely hard time catching up this week.  (I'm also working on a blog for that trip.)  This morning I almost hit my breaking point.  I woke up with a pounding headache and a little bit later than normal.  Luckily, this was one of the mornings Olivia didn't wake us up, so I quietly slipped out of bed as to not disturb my little sleeping beauty.  I was able to get myself ready and most of Olivia's things packed for the day before I had to wake her up to get her fed and dressed.   

We rushed the rest of the morning and it was really quite a blur.  Usually Dave and I will do a run down and make sure we aren't forgetting anything, but in my cruddy mood I just dismissed it, and told him  I had everything.  Well, that was a mistake.  It took me a full hour to finally wake up and realize that I had forgotten Olivia's milk for the day in our fridge.   My wonderful husband dropped us off at the daycare, went to work to tell them he would have to run home and back to pick up the goods.   It was just a bit of a logistical nightmare this morning because we commute and drive my car, which we can't park at Dave's work because it doesn't have a permit, and blah blah blah.    Problem was solved, and it really wasn't that much of a crisis.  I just feel incredibly busy and tired this week. 

Anyways, there was some sweetness to today.  Olivia's daycare room had a little Easter celebration and it was just the cutest thing.  The babies have no idea what is going on and it's mostly for us crazy moms and dads.  There wasn't really any egg hunting going on for the babies,  it was more like just another photo opportunity.

The 4-month check-up

Her four month check-up went very well and rather uneventfully.  She's itty bitty, but that's not surprising as neither mommy nor daddy are very big people.  We were given the doctor's recommendations as far as solid introductions and talked about other developmental milestones coming up.  I'm planning on waiting until O is 6 months old to introduce any solids, and most likely we will be skipping the traditional rice cereal route all together.  I haven't totally formulated my plan of attack for it yet, and I need to continue to do some more research.

Olivia got her shots and it about broke my heart.   Luckily, Dave was there this time, so he got the task of holding her upper body down while the nurse poked her chubby little legs.   She cried of course, but she really did well and stopped crying pretty quickly, which makes me wonder how she would handle getting her ears pierced...I've chickened out on it a couple of times already, and I just think we have missed the window of opportunity and will have to wait until she is much older.  This is so un-Mexican and I am reminded of that quite often. 

I cannot get over how wonderful this all is.  I keep waiting to come down from the, "omg, she is SOOOOO cute" and "Dave! Look at her, look at her, she's so beautiful" high that started on December 8, 2010.  But, nope, no luck.  We can't get enough of our little Olivia.

Just some things

Busy crazy life! A little blog of all the things that have been going on. 

Livy's classroom at daycare did a themed day, and it was the cutest thing imaginable! Five of the babies participated in college team day and a bunch of the parents were able to come and take pictures at lunchtime.  It was fun! Arkansas, Standford, UT and OSU were all represented.

Saturday we went out to Lake Travis for the first time this year.  The Copelands, the Jimenezs, and JonO and Lexie all came out.  Reese brought his boat so they were able to take it out some and drive around.  I stayed behind with O, Dad, Mom and Annette.

The weather was gorgeous on Saturday, and actually got quite warm for us.  Olivia seemed to have a blast. 

Both grandmas got some much needed baby time with Olivia.  Same day, just after a wardrobe change.  My mom tends to be a bit, um, energetic.  During conversation, and while she was still sleeping, Olivia took her hand and covered her ears! 

Olivia got her school pictures back, and she was less than enthused by them.  They actually turned out really really cute, but we probably won't be purchasing any.  We just had the 3 month photo shoot done, and we also take a ton of pictures daily. 

New Olivia Developments:  Olivia is now rolling over.  It's still not an all the time sort of thing, but it is becoming more regular.  She did it for the first time last Wednesday.  Luckily, Dave and I were both there to witness it.  Then she went a couple of days without rolling over at all, and was back at it on Saturday.  Since then we have gotten a couple of roll overs, both front to back, and back to front.  I have video of it and will upload it soon. 

Olivia has also recently discovered her feet.  She prefers the left foot at this point and has brought it to her mouth several times.  That makes Dave excited because he sees how flexible she is and he can't wait to put her in gymnastics! : )

We recently bought this Johnny Jumper thing.  Olivia is still a bit swallowed up in it, even though she is sturdy enough to stay balanced. She still has a couple of more pounds and/or inches to put on before it's more her size.  I have adjusted it as much as it will go, so we just have to wait for our little shorty to grow some.  As you can see her feet are just a couple of inches off of the ground.

Olivia has her 4 month doctor's appointment on Friday.  Holy crap, it has been four months. 

Weekend of Baby Reunions!

Olivia had quite the social weekend!

Friday night we went to dinner at Texicana Cafe with JonO, Lexie, Gammie and Grandpa.  While we were there we ran into Danielle Archambault.  It was crazy.  I know we live in the same city as Danielle so it's bound to happen, but it is always so strange to run into someone from high school, especially when you went to high school halfway across the world in Belgium.  Small world.  Olivia got to meet Danielle and Madison, so yay!

Then Saturday evening, we met up with Mark, Melissa, and Austin in Round Rock.  They are in town from Colorado for a week or so visiting family.  The last time that we saw Austin, he was just a month or so older than Olivia is now, and I was close to 6 months pregnant, I believe.  He is such a big boy now!

Sunday afternoon we had our Bradley Birthing Class Baby Reunion!  It was so great to see all of the new parents and, of course, it was wonderful to meet all of the new babies.  So precious.  I'm hoping we have another reunion once the babies are a little bit older.  It will be really neat to get to see them all as they grow and change.

Needless to say, Olivia was pooped come Monday and is slowly beginning to recover.  Actually, she did amazingly awesome through it all.  Friday night we may have stayed out a little bit later than we should have, but she still did well.  I'm hoping by keeping her out in the streets we are making her flexible, and not completely ruining her sleeping habits, yet.
